Product Overview

The Chestnut Spore Print is a premium-quality spore print sourced from the Pholiota adiposa species, celebrated for its stunning chestnut-brown caps and delicate texture. This spore print is ideal for microscopy enthusiasts, taxonomy research, and educational exploration, offering a glimpse into the spores of this unique and beautiful mushroom species.

Key Features:

  • Collected from healthy, mature Chestnut mushrooms.
  • Sterilized and handled carefully to maintain purity and viability.
  • Perfect for microscopy, taxonomy studies, and research projects.

Instructions for Use

Microscopy & Research

  1. Prepare the Microscope Slide:
    • Carefully remove the spore print from its protective packaging.
    • Using a sterile scalpel or tool, scrape a small amount of spores onto a clean glass microscope slide.
  2. Observation:
    • Place a glass cover slip over the spores.
    • Observe under a microscope at 400x–1000x magnification to analyze the spores’ unique characteristics.
    • Chestnut spores are typically smooth, elliptical, and brownish in color, ideal for detailed taxonomy studies.

Cultivation (For Educational Purposes Only)

  1. Sterile Work Environment:
    • Ensure all tools and surfaces are sterilized to prevent contamination. Use a glove box or laminar flow hood for the best results.
  2. Creating a Spore Solution:
    • Mix spores with sterile water to create a spore syringe or spore solution.
    • Inject the solution onto sterile agar plates or grain jars to begin the colonization process.
  3. Colonization:
    • Maintain a temperature of 65–75°F (18–24°C) for optimal mycelial growth.
    • Observe for dense, white mycelium spreading across the substrate.
  4. Substrate Transfer:
    • Once colonized, transfer the mycelium to a suitable substrate like hardwood sawdust or straw. Pasteurized substrates work best.
  5. Fruiting Conditions:
    • Introduce high humidity levels (85–95%) and maintain indirect light.
    • Chestnut mushrooms fruit in cooler conditions, typically in the range of 55–65°F (13–18°C).
    • Within 14–21 days, clusters of beautiful chestnut-brown mushrooms will emerge.

Care & Storage

  • Storage: Store the spore print in a cool, dark, and dry place. Refrigeration at 35–40°F (2–4°C) can prolong spore viability for up to 2 years.
  • Sterile Handling: Always use sterile tools and practices to ensure spore purity.

Warnings

  • For Educational and Research Purposes Only: This spore print is intended solely for microscopy, taxonomy, and educational use.
  • Legal Regulations: Verify local laws and regulations regarding mushroom cultivation before conducting any experiments.
  • Avoid Contamination: Work under sterile conditions to preserve the integrity of your research.
