The Medium Monotub (44-Quart) is a versatile and durable solution designed to streamline the mushroom cultivation process for home and professional growers alike. With a 44-quart capacity and a compact footprint, it delivers exceptional yield potential while fitting easily on standard shelves, tables, or grow racks.
Constructed from super-dense polypropylene, this monotub is engineered to withstand repeated use, high humidity, and the weight of stacked units—supporting up to 10 tubs securely when stacked. Its outside dimensions (18" L x 15.5" W x 12" H) make it ideal for growing substantial volumes of bulk substrate while maximizing space efficiency.
To promote healthy mycelial growth and consistent fruiting, the tub includes six strategically placed air exchange holes. These facilitate balanced oxygen and CO₂ flow while maintaining high humidity levels inside. Removable plugs are included to help you control airflow during colonization, preventing contamination and moisture loss at critical stages.
A custom-fit liner is included, which hugs the substrate as it shrinks—minimizing side pinning and allowing for fast, clean disposal after harvesting. The included clips tightly secure the lid to the base, ensuring a stable and contamination-resistant seal throughout your grow cycle.
Included in the Package:
Using the Medium Monotub is simple and efficient, whether you're new to growing or scaling up. Start by mixing your colonized grain spawn with a pasteurized bulk substrate. Spread the mixture evenly across the base of the tub, using the drop-in liner to keep the substrate contained and the walls clean.
For incubation, plug all air exchange holes to retain CO₂ and stabilize internal humidity. This phase typically lasts 10–14 days, depending on environmental conditions and the strain. Once full colonization is visible, remove the plugs and apply the adhesive filter disks to the outside of the holes to allow for passive airflow while maintaining high humidity and preventing contamination.
Maintain fruiting conditions at 70–75°F (21–24°C) and provide 12 hours of indirect light daily using a 6500K daylight bulb or natural sunlight. Mist the walls of the tub only if additional humidity is needed. Most strains will begin to pin within 5–10 days of introducing fresh air.
The included filters and plug system allow growers to control airflow dynamically during the process, adapting the tub to multiple species or growing conditions.
Post-harvest cleanup is fast and efficient thanks to the custom-fit liner, which lifts out easily with the spent substrate. Discard the liner and rinse the tub with warm water to remove any residue.
For sanitation, wipe down all internal surfaces with unscented dish soap or a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. Avoid harsh cleaners or abrasive scrubbing to preserve the integrity and clarity of the plastic. Do not use bleach unless absolutely necessary.
Rinse and allow the tub to air dry completely or dry with a clean, lint-free towel. Inspect the plugs and filters after each cycle and replace any that show signs of wear or contamination.
When not in use, store the monotub in a cool, dry place with the lid clipped securely in place. This protects against dust, pests, and warping—ensuring your equipment stays grow-ready for the next cycle.
