A culture slant contains nutrient-rich agar inoculated with mushroom mycelium, designed for long-term storage and propagation.
Propagation from the Pink Oyster Culture Slant
- Prepare a Sterile Work Environment:
- Work in a sterile environment using a laminar flow hood or glove box.
- Sterilize tools such as scalpels, tweezers, and containers with flame or alcohol.
- Inoculating Agar Plates:
- Carefully open the culture slant and flame the mouth of the tube to sterilize.
- Using a sterile scalpel, scrape a small portion of the mycelium from the slant.
- Transfer the mycelium onto pre-sterilized agar plates.
- Seal the plates and incubate at 75–80°F (24–27°C) to promote colonization.
- Grain Spawn Preparation:

- Temperature: 65–85°F (18–29°C) – Pink Oyster thrives in warmer conditions.
- Humidity: 85–95%.

- Fruiting typically begins within 7–10 days, resulting in stunning clusters of bright pink mushrooms.
