Instructions for Use

Preparation:

1. Sanitize your work area: Use alcohol wipes or a disinfectant to clean all surfaces. Wear gloves and a mask to minimize contamination risk.
2. Prepare substrate: Shiitake grows best on hardwood sawdust, supplemented sawdust blocks, or sterilized grain jars. Ensure your substrate is properly sterilized and cooled.

Inoculation Steps:

1. Shake the Syringe: Gently shake the syringe to evenly distribute the mycelium in the solution.
2. Attach the Needle: Remove the syringe cap and attach the sterile needle provided.
3. Sterilize the Injection Point: If using jars or bags, clean the inoculation point (self-healing port or filter patch) with an alcohol prep pad.
4. Inject the Liquid Culture: Insert the needle through the inoculation point and slowly inject 1-2 ml of liquid culture per jar or bag.
5. • Avoid injecting too much liquid to prevent oversaturation.
5. Seal and Store: Reseal your jar or bag and place it in a clean, dark area at temperatures between 65°F - 75°F (18°C - 24°C).

Colonization Period:

• Allow 10-21 days for the mycelium to fully colonize the substrate.
• Regularly monitor for signs of healthy white mycelial growth.
• If contamination (e.g., odd colors, smells) is noticed, discard the affected substrate.

Storage Instructions

• Short-term: Store the syringe in a refrigerator between 35°F - 41°F (2°C - 5°C). Use within 2-3 months for optimal viability.
• Long-term: Freezing is not recommended as it damages the mycelium.
